Responsible Entertainment
Why our events are entertainment rather than gambling, who they are for, and what we do for guests who would rather not take part.
1. ComboFever does not provide gambling services
ComboFever is an event entertainment company. We do not hold ourselves out as a gambling operator, we do not provide gambling services, and nothing we supply may be used as one. Our product is an evening of themed, in-person entertainment for adults.
2. What happens at our events
- Everything takes place offline, in person, at a physical venue.
- Guests play with symbolic chips and points only. These are issued free of charge and have no monetary value whatsoever.
- No money of any kind is used, accepted or handled at our tables.
- No bets, stakes or wagers are placed.
- No cash prizes or cash-equivalent prizes are awarded. Recognition at the end of an event is limited to non-monetary keepsakes.
- There is no online casino, app, platform or play-for-money website connected with ComboFever in any way.
- Chips cannot be bought, sold, redeemed, cashed in or exchanged for goods or services, during the event or afterwards.
Every host opens a table by stating this out loud, so that no guest can be in any doubt about what they are taking part in.
3. Adults only
Our events are restricted to adults aged 20+ and over. Minors are not admitted to the entertainment area under any circumstances, and we do not accept bookings where guests below that age would have access to it. Our hosts will ask a guest to confirm their age if there is any doubt, and will decline to seat them if it cannot be confirmed. We do not market our services to, and do not depict, anyone under 20+.
4. If gambling has been a problem for you
Although our events involve no money and no wagering, casino-themed entertainment can still be unwelcome or uncomfortable for someone who has experienced gambling-related harm, or for someone close to them. We take that seriously.
- Taking part is always voluntary. Nobody is required to sit at a table.
- Observer and support roles are available in our team building programmes.
- Our hosts are briefed never to pressure a guest to join, to continue, or to “have one more round”.
- If a guest asks to step away, the host will simply move on without comment.
- If you are organising an event and have a concern about a particular guest, tell your producer in confidence and we will plan around it.
If you have been affected by gambling-related harm, support is available in New Zealand through the national gambling helpline and local health services. We encourage anyone who feels that casino-themed entertainment would not be good for them to decline the invitation — that is a reasonable and respected choice.
5. How we keep the format clear
- In writing. Our website, proposals and booking terms all state that the service is offline entertainment with symbolic chips and is not gambling.
- Out loud. Hosts state the format before each table opens.
- On the table. Rules cards describe an entertainment format with no stakes and no payouts.
- In our language. We do not use promotional wording that implies money can be won, and we do not advertise bonuses, prize funds, payouts or monetary winnings, because none of those things exist in our service.
- In dry hire. Agencies and venues hiring our tables without our staff must agree in writing to use them only for adults-only entertainment with symbolic chips.
6. Questions or concerns
If you have a question about this notice, about how an event will run, or about a guest you are concerned for, contact us at [email protected] or +64 6 759 9095. We would always rather have the conversation before the event than after it.
